General Terms & Conditions

General information. All prices listed include VAT. A valid driving licence and identity document/passport must be presented to collect the vehicle. Croauto S.L. guarantees compliance with Organic Law 3/2018 on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights, in accordance with current regulations. Croauto S.L. will request the necessary data to comply with the official requirements in this regard, as well as your credit card details for security reasons. It is not permitted to rent if you are under 21 years of age or if you have had a driving licence for less than 3 years. It is not permitted to leave the island of Mallorca under any circumstances, nor is it permitted to transport the rented vehicle by sea. Digital contracts have the same legal validity as physical contracts. If the renter/payer is not the main driver, comprehensive insurance must be taken out. In the event of pick-up or delivery at the airport, or at a place other than the pick-up location, comprehensive insurance must be taken out. The transport of goods or animals must be approved with the express consent of Croauto S.L. Non-compliance with the rule will entail the equivalent of a special cleaning, with a minimum cost of €95. If the vehicle is returned before the end date of the contract, no amount will be refunded. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the vehicles. If it is necessary to clean the remains of tobacco, the extra cleaning fee will be applied.

Included in the price. VAT and taxes included. Unlimited mileage. Coverage against vehicle theft. Assistance for personal injury. Coverage for damages with excess. In the event of an accident or damage to the vehicle, it is mandatory for the client to fill out an accident/damage report and deliver it to our office. Likewise, in the event of theft of the vehicle, the client is obliged to report it to the Police and deliver a copy of the report to our office. Any accident or damage to the vehicle that is not reported will be interpreted as negligence on the part of the client and the client may incur additional costs. Croauto S.L. is not responsible for the commissions charged by its bank in the return of the deductible. The insurance taken out by the lessor covers the lessee and drivers authorised in this contract, against civil liability (damage to third parties). This coverage does not include damage to windows, tyres, rims, and mirrors. To insure these elements, as well as cancel the deductible, the client can take out comprehensive insurance. In any case, the client must change the wheel in the event of a puncture if the vehicle has a spare wheel. The amount of the deductible will depend on the vehicle group, the amounts of which are described below. In the event that the “Comprehensive” insurance is not taken out to cancel the deductible, the client will be charged the following amounts as a security deposit depending on the vehicle group.

Any category not expressly mentioned will be subject to the conditions of the group to which it belongs alphabetically.

Cost of comprehensive insurance per day: All categories have a cost of €5/day for comprehensive premium insurance, except for categories G, H, H1, J, M, M2 of €10/day. Insurance contracted through intermediaries or banking entities does not imply any coverage with Croauto S.L., and it is the client′s responsibility to claim any possible reimbursement of damages from the external company. The deposit amount will be charged to the client′s credit card upon collection of the vehicle. If the client returns the vehicle in the same condition as when it was collected, the deposit will be refunded. In the event of damage not covered by the insurance or included in the deductible, the deposit will be charged. Upon signing the rental contract, the lessee authorizes Croauto S.L. to charge his credit card for extra concepts such as: handling traffic fines, towing of the vehicle, damage not covered by the insurance, extensions, hourly supplements, supplements for lack of hygiene, fuel, damage caused to the vehicle and to third parties due to drunk driving, under the influence of narcotics, negligent use or by an unauthorized driver.

Roadside assistance. The comprehensive insurance includes tow truck service and taxi for four passengers for any eventuality including punctures, loss of keys... 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The taxi service will be paid for by the client and returned later by Croauto S.L. The waiting time may vary depending on the availability of tow trucks, distance from an urban area... In no case may the client abandon the vehicle without taking the appropriate measures to protect it against further damage by leaving it closed and not disturbing traffic. The Lessor will not be obliged to offer the Lessee another rental vehicle in the event of an accident or criminal act; in such case the Contract will be considered to have ended between the two parties. However, Croauto S.L. will try to replace the vehicle as soon as possible and depending on availability. If the comprehensive insurance is not taken out, the tow truck costs will be charged and the client must pay for the taxi service. Round trip kilometres from 0 to 35 km - €90, from 35 to 70 km €110, from 71 to 100 km €180, from 101 onwards €240.

Not covered by insurance. Loss or damage to keys. Impact on the underbody - Clutch damage due to misuse. Lost/damaged antenna. Error in refueling. Damage caused by theft or attempted theft.

Restrictions. Vehicles cannot be taken abroad or between islands. The minimum age of the driver is 21 years, with a driving license held for more than 24 months. Over 70 years of age at no additional cost.In the event that the reserved vehicle category is not available at the time of collection, Croauto S.L. will provide you with one of the same or higher category at no additional cost.

The insurance does not cover, in any case, accidents and damages caused by driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, medication or any other substance that reduces the driver′s ability, as well as when the driver is not authorized to drive the rented vehicle or, even if he is, the accident occurs in breach of the provisions of the contract or basic traffic regulations. The transport of goods or animals can only be with the express consent of Croauto SL. Non-compliance with this rule entails the additional cost of special cleaning (up to €125).

Cleaning. The rental price includes a standard cleaning of the vehicle, however, in the event that the vehicle is returned in an extremely dirty state, Croauto S.L. will be obliged to charge between €95 and €125 for special cleaning.

Cancellation. Cancellations without penalty must be made at least 168 hours in advance of the start of the rental, which will be understood as 08:00 on the first day. Otherwise, the full cost will be charged. You can take out free cancellation insurance up to 24 hours in advance for €20. In any case, cancellations reported less than two hours in advance will be considered “No Show”. Croauto S.L. may cancel the reservation if the clients do not respond to the comments included in the reservation confirmation, calls from Croauto S.L. or emails requesting additional information or firm confirmation.

Picking up the vehicle at the airport.The cars will be delivered to the airport car park on the fifth floor letter A/A. In the event that this area is full or closed for reasons beyond the control of Croauto S.L., we will inform you via email and photo of the new location. Croauto S.L. will send an email with instructions for collecting the vehicle.Delivery and the delivery service at the airport are not free. The customer will pay the costs of the Palma airport parking ticket at the time of collection. The ticket amount will not exceed €10, and otherwise the customer can claim the exceeded amount, except for deliveries between 22:00 - 8:00, when it can be up to €20. Croauto S.L. will take charge of the parking ticket when the customer returns the vehicle at the end of their contract.

Late return of the vehicle. If the vehicle is returned later than the date agreed in the rental contract, the insurance will be invalidated and the client will be responsible for the payment of €200/day (VAT included). In addition to this payment, the customer will also be responsible for paying the daily rental fee. 

Traffic fines. Croauto S.L. will charge an administrative fee of €40 (VAT included) to the customer when we receive a traffic fine. Croauto S.L. is required by law to provide the authorities with the details of customers who receive a traffic fine during the rental period. This fee does not include the payment of the traffic fine; it will be the customer who will have to make the payment directly to the authorities.

Abandonment of the vehicle. Customers who abandon the vehicles in a place other than the one agreed in the rental contract will be responsible for the costs generated by the breach of the contract. In addition, apart from the daily rental fee, a daily penalty charge of €200 (VAT included) will be applied.

Credit card. VISA and Mastercard are accepted. Both the excess and its elimination must always be paid with credit cards. In the event that the client chooses the comprehensive insurance option, payment by debit card or by transfer is allowed. Cash payments are accepted by providing a credit card number as a guarantee for fines, damages, etc. See details.

Contract extension. Contracts may be extended as long as they are reported to Croauto S.L. and subject to availability.

Additional driver. Additional drivers will have a cost of €3/day/driver. They must present their valid driving license.

Young driver. Drivers between 21 and 25 years old must pay a daily supplement of €10/day and must take out comprehensive insurance. In these cases, it is not possible to cancel the excess, and only rentals of groups A, B, C are allowed in their different modalities. For other categories, please contact croautorentacar@gmail.com

Fuel. The customer must return the vehicle at the same level as when it was delivered. If this is not possible, the following scale will be applied.

Child seats. Child seats (except booster seats) will have Isofix fixings, subject to availability. Customers must adjust them personally

Losses, breakages and penalties. Loss or breakage of GPS: €120 / Loss or breakage of child seats: €90 / Loss of wheel change material €150 / Penalty for taking the vehicle off the island: €1000

The amount for the excess or deductible will vary depending on the category of the vehicle. In the case that the client does not wish to contract full insurance to cancell the excess, he/she must leave a deposit to cover for possible damages not covered by the insurance. The amounts varry according to the car category:

 

This coverage does not include damages caused to the tyres, wheels, glass, and car mirrors. In order to insure these items, the client can purchase a different insurance (full isnurance). The price of this insurance is explained a little later. 

 

This deposit will be charged on the clients credit card upon pickup. If the customer returns the vehicle in the same condition in which it was collected, we will proceed to the return the deposit. Damages caused to the vehicle that are not covered by the insurance will be charged against the deposit.

 

In case of any accidents or damages to the vehicle, the customer is required to fill out an accident report and deliver it to our office. Also, if the vehicle is stolen, the customer is required to report to the police and submit the complaint in our office.

 

Any accidents or damages to the vehicle not notified shall be construed as negligence by the customer and this may incur to additional charges.

 

Rent a car Croauto is not responsible for the fees charged by your bank upon the return of the deposit to your credit card.

 

The concerted third party insurance covers the renter and authorized drivers against liability by amount of seventy million euros (50.000.000.- €).

It is the resposibility of the renter the following cases of loss or damage:

 

Credit Card

VISA, Mastercard, and AMEX are accepted. Both the excess and the return of the excess deposit should always be done with credit cards. Only In the event that the renter chooses the CDW and SCDW options, payment by debit card will be allowed.

 

Fuel Policy

The customer will return the car at the same fuel level as it was collected. Penalties will be linked to the current price of fuel, no refunds of any kind will be made.

 

Assistance

Includes towing and taxi service for four passengers for any eventuality including punctures.

24 hours 365 days a year.

Traffic fines

Rent a car Croauto SL charges an administrative fee of 25 Euros (VAT included) to the client when we receive a traffic ticket. Rent a car Croauto is obliged by law to provide information of the rente to the authorities in case of a traffic fine.

This fee does not include the payment of the traffic fine; The customer must pay the authorities directly.

 

Abandonment of the vehicle

Clients abandoning vehicles elsewhere than the agreed in the lease shall be liable for costs incurred for breach of contract. Moreover, apart from the daily rental fee, a daily charge of 50 (VAT included) penalty will apply.

Restrictions

 

Standard or extreme cleaning

The rental price includes a standard cleaning of the vehicle, however, if the vehicle is returned extremely dirty, Rent a car Croauto will be forced to charge € 95 for special cleaning.

 

Cancellation policy

Cancellations without penalty must be made with a minimum of 169 hours respect to the start of rent which shall be considered at 09.00 am on the first day. Otherwise the following shall apply: - Between 168 h and 96 h, 50% will be paid the agreed price. - Less than 96 hours shall be paid 100% of the total agreed price.

 

Late return of the vehicle

If the vehicle is returned later than the date agreed in the lease, the insurance will be invalidated, and the customer will be responsible for payment of € 50 day (VAT included). In addition to this payment, the customer will also be responsible for paying the daily rental rate.

Pick up at the airport

Delivery service at the airport is not free. Customer will pay the parking fee at Palma airport at the time of collection. The amount of the ticket should not exceed € 10, and if it does the client can claim the amount exceeded except in deliveries between 22:00 to 8:00, when it can reach up to € 20. Rent a car Croauto will pay the parking fee when the customer returns the vehicle at the termination of his contract.

Delivery or collection service at the airport has a cost of € 25 each way. The page will load the extra in your reservation automatically.
